What affects its junk value

  • Age: at 11 years old, a 2015 Sedona is newer than most junk cars, so working parts like the engine, transmission and body panels are in demand from rebuilders and parts buyers.
  • Weight: NHTSA's crash-test 2015 Sedona weighed 4,426 lb at curb weight. Scrap value is largely priced by weight, so this is a good starting point. See how scrap prices by weight work.
  • Catalytic converter: like all gas and diesel cars, it has a catalytic converter containing precious metals, one of the most valuable parts on a junk car. An offer assumes it's still in place. More on catalytic converters.
  • Recalls: NHTSA lists 3 recalls for the 2015 Sedona. Open recalls don't stop you from selling or junking it.
  • Known problems: owners reported the most issues with the engine, typically around 82,000 miles. If that's what failed on yours, it can still be sold as-is.

2015 Kia Sedona recalls

NHTSA lists 3 safety recalls covering the 2015 Kia Sedona. Open recalls don't stop you from selling or junking the car, but check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to see which apply to yours.

Exterior LightingSep 2021 · NHTSA campaign 21V725000

Kia Motors America (Kia) is recalling certain 2015-2017 Sedona vehicles. The Smart Junction Box (SJB) software logic may not properly interpret the signals received from the multifunction switch, which could cause the turn signal to activate in the opposite direction of what the driver intended.

Risk: A turn signal activating in the opposite direction of what was intended by the driver increases the risk of a crash.

Electrical SystemFeb 2019 · NHTSA campaign 19V109000

Kia Motors America (Kia) is recalling certain 2015-2018 Sedona vehicles equipped with manually-adjusted front passenger seats. Over time, the Occupant Detection System (ODS) wiring harness located underneath the front passenger seat may break from the seat being occupied.

Risk: If a child is in a child seat in the front seat, a broken ODS wiring harness will not prevent the front passenger air bag from deploying in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury to the child.

StructureMay 2018 · NHTSA campaign 18V338000

Kia Motors America (Kia) is recalling certain 2015-2018 Kia Sedona vehicles equipped with a power sliding door (PSD). The PSD may not auto-reverse when its closing is obstructed.

Risk: If the door closes on an occupant, there is an increased risk of an injury.

Selling a 2015 Sedona: questions

How much is a 2015 Kia Sedona worth for junk?

It depends on its condition, whether major parts like the engine, transmission and catalytic converter are still there, and current scrap and parts prices where you live. As a heavier vehicle, its scrap weight adds to the offer. Enter your ZIP code above for a free offer on your specific car.

Can I junk a 2015 Sedona that doesn't run?

Yes. We buy 2015 Sedonas that don't start, were in an accident, failed inspection or have a blown engine or transmission. Towing is always free.

Can I sell a 2015 Sedona with open recalls?

Yes. Open recalls don't prevent a junk sale. NHTSA lists 3 recalls for the 2015 Kia Sedona; you can check whether any are still open on yours with the VIN lookup at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

What paperwork do I need to sell my 2015 Sedona?
